I'm rillystar (aka Jen to those who know me in RL) and I never know what to really say in these 'About' section blurbs, so here's to winging it!
I have a myriad of interests and hobbies (I call it hobby ADD) but this blog is primarily about food, and specifically, my experiences eating, baking/cooking, and celebrating life as a frilly foodie.
What's a Frilly Foodie?
I've been a fairly longtime enthusiast of Lolita (the Japanese street fashion, not the book), I wear it on many occasions, usually at least a couple of times a week. I help moderate and run a couple of groups out in the great wild interwebs, run events and generally try to be helpful. Over the course of time, this little community of Japanese fashion lovers, have started to come up with endearing nicknames for other fans and wearers of this fashion - frillybutts, Lolis, and so forth. This combined with my love of eating food makes for the name 'Frilly Foodie' and so I figured I'd just name my blog under this guise.
Why a blog now?
I started some posts on a joint blog with a friend of mine (henceforth known as Kurasune), but over time we just didn't post as much, and while I remain heavily active in the Lolita community, she has taken a step back to enjoy other aspects of life. Since I enjoy eating out, and many friends often come to me for advice regarding hitting up the best of Vancouver's Afternoon Tea Services, I figured I might as well start encompassing all my foodie adventures (usually frilled up to some degree).
